HIMALAYA RETREAT 2023 :: Completed

OCTOBER 2 – OCTOBER 15, 2023

Dr. Robert Svoboda and Robert & Meenakshi Moses and Radha-kunda das  on a Himayalan Retreat.

DAYS 1-4
Fly into New Delhi India. Try to arrive early afternoon or evening on October 2. Our booking begins for the night of October 2.  Rest the night in a comfortable hotel right near the airport. Meet and greet fellow pilgrims at breakfast and then board a bus to Haridwar – gateway to the Gods. Take a purifying dip in Mother Ganga while attending Ganga Arati in the evening. Our hotel is right in the midst of the bustling bazaar. Travel higher up into the Himalayas to spend the night at Rudraprayag, then onward to Turiya Resort to settle in for our Himalayan Retreat.

DAYS 5-11
While based at Turiya Resort with inspiring views of the Himalayan peaks we will have a daily practice of early morning meditation, sunrise Gayatri mantra chanting, pranayama and asana. During the day we will take hikes in the region or travel by bus to nearby Himalayan temples – TriyugaNarayan, Tungenath and KartikSwami, to name a few. After making sure we are acclimatized, one full day will be devoted to visiting Kedarnath, one of the four important holy dhams in the Himalaya. This is an 18-km uphill hike with options to fly up by helicopter or ride a pony. Dr. Robert Svoboda & Robert Moses will lead daily satsangs with talks and discussions. Robert Moses will lead the pranayama practice and Meenakshi Moses the asana classes. Our aim is to get as calm and peaceful and inspired as possible!
Turiya Resort is comfortable and restful. The double rooms are large and clean with hot water bathrooms. Two vegetarian meals a day with a mid-day snack and ample chai are all included. The resort is owned and run by Yoginder Rana, the only Indian civilian to receive a military medal award, for when he was lowered by helicopter to bravely rescue stranded pilgrims during the disastrous  flooding of the Kedarnath Valley in June 2013.

DAYS 12-15
Drive back down to Rishikesh where we will spend two nights, giving you time to relax (and shop in the bazaars)! Meditate at the Samadhi Shrine of Swami Sivananda, visit the Maharishi Ashram where the Beatles stayed, walk alongside, and take a final dip, in Mother Ganga, attend evening Arati and have a farewell dinner together. Then early on the last day (October 15) we will board the bus to Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi*, stopping en route for lunch. Book return flights as late as possible on October 15 or better the early hours on October 16). Fly home – or continue traveling in India.
